This week is Science Week, and it has brought a real sense of curiosity to the school. Mr Mario has swapped back from Performing Arts to Science for the week to run some fun experiments with the students, including some memorable chemical reactions. The past fortnight has also given our students plenty of hands-on science beyond the classroom. Our Grade 3 and 4 students headed off to Mt Clear, while our Prep students enjoyed a Mad Science Mayhem show at the library. It has been great to see science come to life.
Jump Rope for Heart is still going strong, with many students fundraising and setting some impressive skipping times. The program builds towards our final jump-off day on Friday 4th September, when students will put their skipping skills to the test. It is a great way to stay active while raising money for the Heart Foundation, and we thank every family who has supported so far.
I have also loved seeing the wonderful work in our Specialist classes. Performing Arts has been a great addition this semester, with some grades engaged in drama and others creating rhythm and beat performances. In PE, students have been perfecting their skipping skills for Jump Rope for Heart. There are some amazing artworks newly on display in Building A’s hallway, including portraits and foam and material framed pieces, well worth a look at pick-up or drop-off. Our students also continue to blow me away with their Chinese language skills!
Our School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB) relaunch continues to progress. This fortnight students have taken part in explicit lessons on the behaviours we expect at our assemblies, giving everyone a clear and shared understanding of those expectations. I have enjoyed talking with many students proud to share when they have earned one of our new golden PRIDE dollars, which recognise students living out our school values. We warmly invite all families to a parent information session about SWPB on Friday 4th September.
