What an exciting and positive few weeks it has been at 502!
A major highlight was officially introducing Percy, our new 502 SWPB mascot, to the school community at assembly last week. Students were full of excitement as Percy made a special appearance alongside the launch of our new school song, which had everyone singing and joining in. To make the day even more memorable, Percy also celebrated his birthday with the students, creating plenty of smiles, laughter, and school spirit. Percy is already becoming an important part of promoting our school values and expectations across the school.
We also recently celebrated Walk to School Day, with a fantastic turnout from students and families at the library meeting point. Students enjoyed walking to school escorted by members of our local emergency services. We sincerely thank all emergency service personnel for their support, community engagement, and the positive connections they continue to build with our students and families.
Our Prep to Grade 2 students enjoyed special visits to the library. For the Preps this included National Simultaneous Storytime – a nationwide celebration of reading. It was fantastic to see students so engaged in books, storytelling, and developing a love of reading alongside their peers.
This week has marked the beginning of our assessment weeks across the school. It has been incredibly rewarding speaking with both teachers and students about the growth that is already being demonstrated. The dedication, focus, and effort shown by students has been outstanding, and our staff are proud of the learning progress being achieved across all year levels.
In sport, we had strong representation at the Regional Cross Country event, with students demonstrating excellent determination, resilience, and sportsmanship. We are very proud of their efforts and the way they represented our school. During PE sessions, students have also been developing and practising their golf skills. A special thank you to Tony for sharing his expertise with our students.
Next week, we will be getting the Prep and Grade 1/2 playgrounds resurfaced. This will cause disruptions to the playgrounds and surrounding areas. Please be careful and follow any signage from the works.Gutentor Simple Text
